Today, the Federal Government has made the official announcement that all remaining COVID-19 restrictions will be removed effective October 1st, 2022.

Individuals are reminded that they should not travel if they have symptoms of COVID-19. If travellers become sick while travelling, and are still sick when they arrive in Canada, they should inform a flight attendant, cruise staff, or a border services officer upon arrival. They may then be referred to a quarantine officer who will decide whether the traveller needs further medical assessment as COVID-19 remains one of many communicable diseases listed in the Quarantine Act.
We are very excited to see this finally happen! While the timing is long overdue, Northern Ontario tourist operators will now be able to fully market to all fall and winter tourists, as well as have clarity going into the 2023 tourism season.
The Northern Ontario Border Working Group will continue to work to ensure that the border remains open, and NOTO will also continue to advocate for support as we begin to slowly turn the corner into recovery.
